Iris Mes-Low

Isak Dinesen once said: “All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story or tell a story about them”. Mes-Low’s work is the Visual Communication of what “Happy “is to her. It is her story.  Mes-Low looks for different ways to express the world around her in the simplest form.  Subjects reveal themselves through layers of thickly applied paint. The brushstroke (pointillism) and the interaction of colours (colour fields) are the focus of her work. The placements of brushstrokes are intuitively chosen. Along with abstract work Mes-Low enjoys painting house portraits of the many beautiful heritage homes in New Westminster as well as imagined landscapes.
