In my artistic journey, I explore the abstract world, translating its ethereal beauty and intricate design onto canvas. Inspired by nephomancy, I delve into the divination of clouds, light, and the chaos of space and beauty. Through art, I express my vision, believing in its transformative power to challenge norms and evoke deep emotions. Authenticity, empathy, and inclusivity guide my art, shedding light on social issues and promoting justice. Creating captivating and unique pieces allows me to translate my awe and admiration onto canvas.
Art has become my chosen healing medium, enabling me to express my vision and emotions in ways that transcend the limitations of words. Using resin and alcohol inks, I capture the vibrant fluidity of the cosmos, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the mesmerizing dance of colours and textures. Painting becomes a profound connection, where emotions freely flow onto the canvas. I aim to evoke chaos, passion, vulnerability, and liberation, creating space for introspection and dialogue.
When I paint, I enter a profound concentration and connection, accompanied by various musical genres. Time loses its hold as emotions flow freely onto the wooden canvas. In this state, I experience a kaleidoscope of feelings: chaos, passion, vulnerability, and liberation. I aim to evoke similar emotions in others, creating a space for introspection and dialogue amidst the chaos.
Envisioning the future of art, I see boundless creativity embracing new technologies and pushing the boundaries of traditional mediums. Artists will challenge norms, provoke emotions, and question the status quo. Through my unique creations, I bridge the gap between art and the cosmos, igniting inspiration in viewers’ hearts.
Biography
Amy Wiebe Lau is a Vancouver-based contemporary abstract expressionist artist whose profound journey in the art world began with an insatiable curiosity for the wonders of creation, working from her studio on the unceded and ancestral territories of the Coast Salish peoples of the Tsleil-Waututh, Musqueam and Kwikwetlem Nations.
Driven by a deep desire to express her vision and emotions, Amy found solace in art as a healing medium. It became her chosen medium of communication, transcending the limitations of words and allowing her to share her unique perspective with the world. Using resin and alcohol inks, Amy captures the vibrant and fluid nature of the cosmos. Each stroke in her paintings creates an immersive experience, inviting viewers to lose themselves in the mesmerizing dance of colours and textures. Her work evokes emotions like chaos, passion, vulnerability, and liberation, aiming to create introspection and dialogue.
Amy believes in art’s transformative power to challenge norms and promote justice. She values authenticity, empathy, and inclusivity, using her art as a platform for social issues. Amy is a Ph.D. candidate in Arts Education and immerses herself in music from various genres while painting. Amy envisions art evolving without bounds, bridging art and the cosmos, and inspiring others.
